I set up a LinkedIn profile. I know the world and his mother (although, perhaps not my mother) have already had one for years, and I know it’s not much, but it’s a start. If I’m going to dazzle future employers with my reams of relevant work experience (ahem) and ability to not sound completely pretentious when trying to sell myself to said future employers (ahem), the least I can do is enrich my online presence for them to gaze longingly at throughout the recruitment process.
I also direct all future employers here, actually, which explains why I’ve given my blog a revamp recently and eventually provided some form of photo ID on my homepage. Ain’t nothing more legitimate than a personal blog to convince someone that you’re the approachable, delightful candidate fit for the position.
Looks like the next step is for me to sit back, open the Cadbury’s Heroes I only stopped binge eating a few hours ago and wait for the job offers to roll in. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I’m almost certain this is how the real world works now, thanks to modern technology. I can’t even begin to imagine how much of a pain applying for jobs must’ve been back in the days of sending your CV via mailing pigeon!
Until next time,
