Hello all! I’ve been disgustingly AWOL for far too long – it’s been about three and a half weeks, actually – and for that I’m really sorry. I spent the last few weeks of my summer job taking on as many hours as I could squeeze in, then jetted off to Moraira, Spain for a week in the sun with my uni girls! I arrived back in Manchester in the small hours of Friday morning and only back home yesterday lunchtime – not before I’d been forced to stomp through the torrential rain that greeted me at the train station in my sandals, sundress and sarong, no less – so I haven’t had time to even think about doing anything apart from sleeping and eating Chinese takeaway (no comment.) I’m convinced my unpacked suitcase is watching me.
Because I’m apparently an idiot when it comes to HTML I can’t get this to embed properly, here’s a snap of us all together that I print-screened and cropped on Paint so I could pop it in this post – mediocre blogging at it’s finest, ladies and gentlemen.
All of this means I’ve left very little room in my life for emmarobyn. I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead, though – as well as taking on the role of Welfare Rep in my uni’s Philosophy Society and starting my final year of study, I’ll be working towards NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, which starts in November – check out more here) by submitting an entry to JustWrite’s Monthly Masterpiece challenge (I’m feeling very link-happy, so you can click here to see for yourself what I’m on about.) By the looks of things I’m going to be pretty run off my feet! I’m really trying to stay motivated this academic year in preparation for my step into the Real World next summer, so by giving myself these separate, smaller goals, I hope I can stay focused. Not only that, but I’ve got plenty of ideas for bloggy bits, inspired by the books I’ve read (and tried to read) over the past few months, moving into my new house, and the Seven Deadly Sins (stay with me on that one, I will try my absolute best to make sure it won’t just be one hideous cliché.)
For now, I’m going to enjoy my last couple of days at home before summer is officially over and I move back down to uni – watching F1 with my Dad and drinking a lot of coffee is what today’s agenda mostly consists of. You’ll hear from me soon though!
Just a side note: if anyone else is planning on taking part in NaNoWriMo, feel free to drop me a comment – I’d love to talk about it!
Until next time,
